Can the 'hmmgenerate.m' be used to generate sequences and states relating to appliance usage given the total electricity consumption?

I am trying to use the Hidden Markov Model or the Factorial Hidden Markov model in order to generate occupancy and appliance usage patterns. How can I do that? I used both the 'hmm.m' and 'fhmm.m' algorithms to obtain the transition and observation matrices. Is it possible to use the 'hmmgenerate.m' built in function? If so please explain how.
