Intstalling R2016a_glnxa64 rendering problem

Hi,

I am trying to install MATLAB R2016a on my Ubuntu system, but the installer seems to have some type of rendering problems. Here is what it looks like:

Any ideas as to how to fix this or any alternative way of installing matlab?

Here is my system's information:

hector@thinkpad:~$ uname -a
