Simulating a Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET)

I would like to create a simulation of a Mobile Ad-hoc Network using Simulink.

Could someone recommend a good text or other resource that would be helpful in accomplishing this?

I'm looking for something to guide me in developing a network simulator (something more along the lines of what NS3 does). I'd prefer to use Simulink to accomplish this. I've read some papers that discuss doing it but I need a bit more hand-holding and would prefer a textbook or some other document with examples that will help...
