Import Tool/Generate Function

My import tool doesn't allow me to generate function code is only gives me the options "Import Data" and "Generate Script". Is there any reason it doesn't show "Generate Function"?

Also - what file type is it you are trying to import?

I an having the same issue. I have tried on two different machines, one running MatLab R2015b and the other is running R2018a. I am trying to upload excel data and both machines have excel installed. Is there a solution?
