Plot GUI Lag and Double Rendering When Zooming or Panning in MATLAB R2025b

Hi everyone,

Since installing MATLAB R2025b on my laptop, I’ve been experiencing significant lag when interacting with plots through the GUI. For example, when I zoom or pan a figure, the plot initially responds as expected, but then it seems to "reset" and repeat the movement — as if the interaction is being processed twice. This results in a delayed and duplicated effect that makes working with figures frustrating and inefficient.

The only differences I can identify compared to my previous setup are:

• The previous version I used was R2021b, and I had no issues with plot interactions.
• R2021b was installed on an SSD, while R2025b is currently installed on an HDD.

Has anyone else encountered this behavior? Could it be related to rendering changes in R2025b, storage speed, or something else (e.g., graphics drivers or settings)?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I would hypotesize this is almost certainly related to the new rendering and use of webgl.

Submit this as bug/performance report at <Product Support Page>. Reference this thread and be sure to include working code that produce the case shown in the video. If it's not humongous, I would recommend attaching the clip rather than the external link.

Just as FYI, it is irrevocable that Mathworks is committed to the new desktop going forward. I would recommend <What's behind the new desktop> to get a viewpoint from the developer's perspective.

I’ve been trying every possible workaround. Unfortunately, nothing resolved the issue, so I’ve gone ahead and submitted a support ticket as you suggested.
