Dear MathWorks Community,
I am currently working on a project to develop an electric scooter with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) functionality using Simulink. I'm reaching out to seek advice and guidance on how to approach this task effectively.
Specifically, I'm interested in:
- Modeling the Dynamics: I need assistance in modeling the dynamics of the electric scooter, including its propulsion system, wheel dynamics, and overall vehicle dynamics.
- Designing the AEB System: I would like to implement an AEB system that can detect potential collisions and autonomously apply the brakes to prevent accidents. Any insights into designing such a system, including sensor selection, control algorithms, and integration with the scooter dynamics, would be greatly appreciated.
- Simulation and Testing: Guidance on how to simulate and test the integrated system in Simulink would be invaluable. This includes validating the AEB functionality under various scenarios and optimizing its performance.
If anyone has experience or expertise in any of these areas, or if you can point me towards relevant resources, examples, or tutorials, I would be extremely grateful.
Thank you in advance for your help and support.
Best regards,
MOHAMED HOUSNY

As I understand, you intend to design an EV (Electric Scooter) with AEB system. Since building an EV is of broad scope and complexity, it requires a "Model-Based Systems Engineering" approach to design architectures and optimize systems. Refer to the following solutions for more information on EV simulation and testing using MATLAB, Simulink, and Simscape:
Additionally here is a link to the list of tutorials for EV simulation and building various subcomponents:
And to build an AEB system there are a few existing tutorials, refer to this example on building an AEB system with sensor fusion:
