Connecting Arduino Uno to Matlab via Bluetooth instead of USB?

Hello,
I have been reading about using Matlab to write directly to an Arduino with a motorshield by connecting the computer to the Arduino through the USB cable (<http://www.mathworks.com/help/supportpkg/arduinoio/examples/control-motors-using-adafruit-motor-shield-v2.html)>.
I am wondering if it is possible to use the same Matlab-to-Arduino functionality by connecting Matlab to a bluetooth attached to the Arduino? Does anybody have experience with this? In the code connecting the Arduino to Matlab over USB, the Arduino is defined in the USB COM port. Would my plan work if I define the Arduino in the COM port connected to my Bluetooth device?
Thank you!
