Calling .Net Core on non-windows platforms

Since .Net Core is available on many platforms, I would like for matlab .Net integration to be supported on non-windows platforms. According to the documentation page, Selecting .NET Core in MATLAB, this is for windows only. What are the plans for matlab to support .Net Core on non-windows platforms. I am not a java programmer and having a multi-platform .Net capability in matlab would be a great help.
