I have SONY a6400 arw images of a scintillation crystal bomdarded with high energy protons. I would like to analyze the data in Matlab. When I convert to .bmp file and use the import wizard, I only get 8 bit resolution. SONY says they have 14 bit resolution. Maybe I am lossing the data when I do the save as .bmp, but those files are 96Mb. The orginal file is 24,203 Kb.

I don't know if you've tried readraw(), but that might be of use. I don't know if there are other tools that would work.
I don't have an appropriate 12b/14b ARW file to test, but that's probably a start.

All, thank you, I figured it out. You convert the arw file into a tiff file using one of the online converters. The matlab import wizard then knows to use 14.5 bit resolution when importing the tiff file. Sorry, I had been fighting this question for a week and just tried the tiff method last night.
