Data from different sized columns from different files

I have 3 different files, of which I want 3 specific columns from these files put into one file. I then want to find the average of these 3 columns and plot a graph. However the 3 specific columns are of different sizes (different number of rows). How can I do this!

What is in the columns? Numbers? Try calling readmatrix for all 3 files. Strings? Try calling readcell

It is numbers, however I cannot read a single column with readmatrix
