There is no perfect way to choose ratings, but to start, you want to look at the currents and voltages that go through each device at full power and various other operating conditions. This will give you a baseline for the rating that you need However, it is very easy to miss voltage and current spikes from switching effects that may require higher rated devices or the use of snubbers depending on the level of fidelity of your simulation and even if it is fixed step vs variable step. Additionally, you typically want a margin of safety as well, which will vary from application to applicaitonb based on issues such as cost vs mean time to failure.
