How to calculate distance in the given question?

Hello all, In my work, I have to consider a circle of radius, R = 500 meters with main cell phone tower numbered 1 at its center and four other small cell phone towers numberd 2 to 5 located at a distance of R/1.414 from main cell phone tower. Also the system consists of 60 users randomly distributed across the circle.

My query is how we can calculate distance of each user from all the base stations and stored it in some array.

Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated.

To calculate the distance between each user and the base stations, you must know the position of each user and the base stations. If you don't know the positions of the base stations, you cannot calculate the distances.

You should explain in more detail the real underlying problem. Maybe you want to place the base stations most effectively such that at the beginning, their positions are solution variables of an optimization problem and not known ?

Yes sir. I got your point. Can we do like this:

The main cell phone tower is at center of a circle so its coordinate will be (0,0) in 2D and other 4 small cell phone tower will be placed at distance of 500/1.414 each on on four sides of the main cell tower.

With this we get the position of all base stations in a circle. Is my understanding correct sir?

If with "on the four sides of the main cell center" you mean east, north, west and south, then you know their positions:

N = (0,500/sqrt(2)),

W = (-500/sqrt(2),0),

S = (0,-500/sqrt(2)),

E = (500/sqrt(2),0).
