Matlab 2014b Patch Command Not Working Correctly

Hello Everyone, I have an issue with the 2014b patch.m command. The issue is described here:

though I didn't really see a solution there, so I'm re-stating it.

I'm working with shape files, and ultimately would like them to be vector graphics in powerpoint (this is usually very simple, just copy&paste as a metafile). Below is an example of the country of France, imported into powerpoint via 2013b (and after ungrouping the meta-file, i.e. it has now become vector powerpoint objects):

Next, is the same screen capture from powerpoint (same version of powerpoint, 2007), but with the graphic generated in 2014b, after ungrouping in powerpoint (i.e. figure has then become a vector powerpoint object):

It is very clear that there are strange lines between a lot of the patch points. This results in the patch not being imported as a single object in powerpoint and causes headaches in the presentations I'm creating. Does anyone have a solution for this?
