'cubicinterp' vs. 'cubicspline'

In the List of Library Models for Curve and Surface Fitting, here, 'cubicspline' is listed under Spline Model Names with the description 'Cubic interpolating spline', and 'cubicinterp' is listed under Interpolant Model Names with the description 'Cubic spline interpolation'. Is it correct to say that these two models ('cubicinterp' & 'cubicspline') are the same except one is in 2D (piecewise fitting a cubic function of X to pairs of data) and the other in 3D (fitting a cubic function of X and Y to three data points)?
Thanks,
Neil
