Is there a way to create subscripts in the script editor?

I would like to create subscripts in the regular editor but all the information I have found is about the live editor. Is there a way to do it in the regular editor?

The only way I am aware of to display subscripts is described in Matrix Indexing. If you intend something else, please be specific.

The way I found to do it is like this: Add Subscripts, Superscripts, and Accents to Symbolic Variables in the Live Editor

I am calculating the wave drag per unit span for a uni project and at the moment when I publish it looks like this:

But I want Cdw and D_w to look like this :

That is not an option in the regular Editor.
