Double Checking VVF graph

I have a curve with the parametrizations below and its coming up at two different lines when I graph it. I was going to try to make it a 3D plot with z=0 and it wouldn't let me. Does this look right? I feel like it should not be two separate lines, but I might be overthinking it.
syms t
x = (sqrt(3)*t- sin(t))/2
y = (t + sqrt(3)*sin(t))/2
r = [x y]
fplot(r)

‘... it wouldn't let me.’
Of course it will!
You just have to ask it nicely (and ask the correct plotting function)!
syms t
x(t) = (sqrt(3)*t- sin(t))/2
y(t) = (t + sqrt(3)*sin(t))/2
z(t) = 0*t
figure
fplot3(x, y, z, [-1 1]*25, 'LineWidth',2)
Make appropriate changes to get the desired result.
