Convert from cylindrical Mapping (panaroma) to Cubical (6 face) mapping

Hi, I was wondering if there is a direct way of converting an image to cube map form. I want to create a 3D image out of it. If there is no direct way, can you please suggest me some algorithms that can be used to convert to cubical projections.
