Hi,
MATLAB certification establishes a standard of excellence that demonstrates your MATLAB proficiency to customers, industry peers, and your employer. Certification creates valuable transferable skills, sets individuals apart in the job market, and can help accelerate professional growth. When you obtain Certified MATLAB Associate or Certified MATLAB Professional status you become part of a select community with industry recognized credentials.
There are 2 types of MATLAB exams offered, Associate and Professional.
  • The MathWorks Certified MATLAB Associate exam will be a 50 question, multiple-choice exam testing knowledge of the MATLAB language. Both the exams are written exams, not on the computer. The format will be a paper-and-pencil exam and candidates will not have access to MATLAB or any additional resources.
  • The MathWorks Certified MATLAB Professional exam will involve a mixture of multiple-choice questions and small programming tasks to be completed in MATLAB. Candidates will have access to MATLAB, as well as the help system during this time.
It will take 3-4 weeks to get the results of the exam
The references regarding preparing for exams can be found here.

There are no specific books regarding certification exams. But you can find a lot of books here which you can leverage to learn the concepts mentioned in objectives tested in the exams
