I use maltase 2013b and I have always wondered how to format some part of the code in m file to bold, italic or color.
Is there a way to format a text/code in m file like we format text in MS word?
By having such formatting ability for code, it makes it easier to highlight, read and find interesting part of the code.

MATLAB (I'm assuming that's what you meant by "maltase") does have color coding for some items (numbers, string, keywords, etc.) and can highlight the current line. See the preferences dialog box. However it does not give you precise control over every excruciating detail for every type of text item, and what color you want to give it, or other font attributes like bolding, italics, and so on.

The short answer is no!
Maybe http://undocumentedmatlab.com/ presents tricks.
