linear system of equations

I am trying to use 'solve' to solve this system of equations:
solve('5*x+6*y=5','10*x+12*y=10')
and I get the a return saying:
Warning: The solutions are parametrized by the symbols:
z = C_
and when I try to look at the solutions it introduces the variable z :
soln =
[ 1 - (6*z)/5, z]
How can I fix this?

Your equations are not independent. The second is 2 times the first

parametrized by the symbols means the equation has a common parameter making them dependent on each other. So you can't solve them as simultaneous equations.
