loading a DEM map

hello
am trying to create an elevation map for the Atlantic ocean.
I have try everything to get the maps working. .bin .asc .xyz.
right now am trying to used DEM file but I don't where to find the "mapping toolbox".
also matlab it saying undefined function for even the worldmap worl input.
out of memory has gone on some time.
need some help asap.
