Dear all, I've attached the image in which is of fabric obtained through electron microscope. The problem is that I want to separate the thick fibers(marked blue in img2) from the thin fibers(marked red). thin fibrils are defects. How can i do that?

I don't think you can except by manually tracing them. For example, some of the fibrils are thin bright ridges, but a lot of the edges of the big fibers also look like thin bright ridges.
What do you need to know anyway? Can't you just trace the fibrils manually and add up the length of the traced lines?

I've done all I can in the time I can provide to your project. SEM images are notoriously difficult. Yours could be a Master's project (and maybe it is yours) so it's not something I'm going to bang out in 5 minutes. Good luck.
