no winsound compatible device detected

Dell optiplex 755; windows 7 64 bit; Matlab R2014a 32-bit; Data Acquisition toolbox 3.5

I get the following error: Winsound: No Winsound compatible device detected.

I have searched for a list/specs of/for winsound compatible devices with out luck. The sound system works fine on this computer.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Why do you need Winsound specifically? Have you tried calling

info = daqhwinf();
info.InsatlledAdaptors

to see what adaptors you have installed?

Is there any follow up on this problem? I'm encountering the same issue. I have a DELL XPS with Win 8.1 64 Bit, Matlab 32 Bit 2014b,and winsound adaptor is installed:

d=daqhwinfo

d =

          ToolboxName: 'Data Acquisition Toolbox'
       ToolboxVersion: '3.6 (R2014b)'
        MATLABVersion: '8.4 (R2014b)'
    InstalledAdaptors: {'winsound'}

Any ideas why I get the error message " Winsound: No Winsound compatible device detected."?
