Hi everyone,
I am not very familiar with Matlab so i have a question that maybe can seems to be simple.. I have a database define in X from -0.5 to 0.5 and in Y from 0 to 10. I want to find the best semi-ellipse that can fit the data but i want it to be 0 for X=-0.5 and X=0.5 and in order to have a symmetric shape: Y(fitcurve)=MAX for X=0.
How can i do that with Matlab ?

No, it's not clear. What does Y(fitcurve)=MAX mean? What is "MAX" and what is "fitcurve"? Does it mean abs(Y) and abs(X) are maximized at the same point on the curve?
And what do you mean by "i want it to be 0 for X=-0.5 and X=0.5". What is "it" in that sentence? Do you mean Y?

Check out this answer. And use, e.g.,
t = (0:pi/10:2*pi)';
x = 4*cos(t) + rand(size(t));
y = 2*sin(t) + rand(size(t));
instead to center the ellipse appropriately.
