Plot: varying X-axis Ticks

I am using plot function say, timecourse (from 1 to 10000 seconds) Vs predictionsetvalues (some arbitrary units). My length(predictionsetvalues)==length(timecourse)=10000;
I want to draw my plot in such a way that, my x-axis ticks are arranged as following:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 1000 2000 3000 4000 5000 6000 7000 8000 9000 10000
How can I do this?

This is not possible with linear scale. Maybe with log scale, you can get a representation close to what you want

log-scaled time course little better than linear time course scale.
Other way is to truncate the predictionsetvalues corresponding to last 5000 time points, where predictionsetvalues are virtually constant (no variation i.e., linear vs time-course end points).
I see some meaningful happening (non-linear) in the initial time points (1-10 s) later my predictionsetvalues are constant.
