Why do I receive the following error:

MathWorks Licensing Error 38

You are not authorized to use <PRODUCTNAME>.

Contact your system administrator to check the EXCLUDE list in the license server's options file.

This error indicates that either the username, hostname, or display is being prevented from using a product due to an EXCLUDE line in an options file. Options files are used by license administrators to control access to software licenses.

For instance, the following line in the options file will prevent anyone with the username 'jdoe' from accessing MATLAB:

EXCLUDE MATLAB USER jdoe

In order to resolve this error, you will need to be removed from the EXCLUDE list. Contact your License Administrator to have this change completed.
