Random Item Selection

Randomized item sampling for selective scoring of student assignments.

The first input to the randomizer is a unique student identifier (could be a few digits from their institutional ID). The second input is the total number of items assigned (item population size), while the third input is the sample size. The fourth input is an arbitrary number (“Seed”) chosen by the instructor for each assignment. The program will output the same pseudorandom selection for a given set of inputs. The software should be made available to all students at the beginning of the course, but the instructor “Seed” should only published after the due date to each assignment, so students can verify their random selection but only after they have submitted their work.
