Retaining Minor Grid Status Upon Loading a Saved Figure

I seem to be running into an issue that I can't seem to solve. I can't seem to save the state of the minor grid lines. I'll make and save a figure with major grid lines on and minor grid lines off, but when I load it, the minor grid lines end up being on.
Does anyone know why? Does anyone have a work around? Does the problem happen for anyone else?
For the record, I'm running R2013b, on 64-bit Ubuntu
Here's some example code to create the problem
% Temporary file name
tempFig = 'temp.fig';
% Make a plot spanning several orders of magnitude
figure
loglog(1:10:1e4,1:10:1e4)
% Turn the grid on but the minor grid off
grid on
set(gca,'YMinorGrid','off','XMinorGrid','off')
% Title it
title('Original Figure')
% Save the figure
saveas(gcf,tempFig)
% Load the figure and see
uiopen(tempFig,1)
title('Saved Figure')
