matlab matrix multiple with letter variable

is there anyway to mutliple matrix with any unknown number ?

I think storing numeric and character data together is only possible with cell arrays. However, it would be good for storing them only as doing any calculation with mixed data type matrix would cause errors.

A = [1 0 0 0; 0 0 1 0; -3 3 -2 -1; 2 -2 1 1];
