how to recognise svmtrain function

I have wine dataset and working on libsvm ,wen i use

svmtrain( train_label, train,cmd);

i get error

Y must be a vector or a character array.

i have svmtrain.c in my matlab path,but this is not recognised

plz tell how to recognise this file
