how to convert image into ascii format

my project is based on image processing implementation in VHDL. so, i have to need convert image into ascii format in matlab and read that file in verilog coding. please anyone help me. i am in urgent.

Read the image into MATLAB with imread, and then write the data out in a format that can be read by Verilog file I/O.
