Simplify in what way? Group the real and imaginary parts? Is e a variable? Seems like you could easily do this by hand.

There are inbuilt functions available. Read about real, imag, cart2pol, pol2cart.
a = 3*e-j*pi/3+ 4*e*j*pi/6 ;
b = (1+j) +j * 2*e*j*pi/6 ;
% Cartesian form
ac = [real(a) imag(a)] ;
bc = [real(b) imag(b)] ;
% Polar form
ap = cart2pol(ac) ;
bp = cart2pol(bc) ;
