Editing Apps Created with App Designer Error

I developed an app with App Designer version 2020a. However, some of the computers that will be using this app only run MATLAB 2017b. The app runs fine with both versions, but I am unable to edit or view the app files in version 2017b. When I try to open the file, I get this error

Is there a workaround for this, I would really like to be able to debug for backwards compatability.
