how to shift phase of unknown frequency signal by 90 by using hilbert transform?

I tried to shift an unknown frequency signal by 90 by applying hilbert transform comand (imag(hilbert(x)) in matlab function block. But it does not work.

Thank you dear Vahila for response. I want to shift a signal by 90 degrees using any methods. I used function called Hilbert transform but it doesn't work. Do you have any ideas?
