How do I prevent multiple instances of a web based application?

I have an application build in the appdesigner.

I deploy it in the matlab web server. The user may now start it multiple times, which is undesired. How to prevent this?

I saw the Answer by Jonathan Jacobs on 17 Sep 2018 (https://nl.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/375116-how-do-i-create-a-single-instance-of-matlab-app-mlapp-file), but that is not a very attractive solution.
