Timeout Occurs during Cosimulation Wizard Simulation Options Step

I'm attempting to verify cosimulation on my system. I'm using MATLAB R2017b and ModelSim DE 2019.3 on Linux. I'm aware that this is not listed as a supported version, but I'm looking for guidance to help troubleshoot whether there is a path forward.

During the "Simulation Options" part of the Cosimulation Wizard, I receive the following error after a 120s timeout.

"Error: Time-out occured during launching HDL simulator. Please check the HDL simulator log for error messages."

What is the "HDL simulator log"? Is this a MATLAB owned log I can examine for more detailed information on the failure? Where can I find it? The compilation step works correctly, so it seems that MATLAB can invoke vcom just fine. It seems there's an issue with vsim.

I also get the following error when invoking vsim (after invoking hdldaemon) directly from the MATLAB command window:

Warning: Unsupported version of HDL simulator '2019'. See product requirements. Will attempt to continue

launching HDL simulator.
