Hi,
I want to solve a 2d partial differential equation with Matlab. The equation reads
Is it possible to solve this PDE with Matlab? I have the PDE toolbox, but I cannot bring my PDE to the form required by Matlab:

Are you sure about the d_xy term ?

Yes, that term is really there in my full equation.
As a first approximation, however, it can be neglected.

If you neglect the mixed-derivative term, I recommend CLAWPACK to solve.
MATLAB has no tools for first-order hyperbolic PDEs.

Thanks, Torsten. Eventually I have to include also the mixed-derivative term. Would it still not be possible to solve the PDE with Matlab?

See section 2-62 from
to see whether your equation can be transformed to the divergence form MATLAB requires (I doubt it).

Indeed it seems like it is not possible to bring my equation into the form required by Matlab.
