I have a couple programs I run frequently that all written in Java and are bundled as double-clickable JAR files. The programs each have a number of fields to populate with values before running. Is there any way I can launch the app in Matlab, populate the fields via Matlab, and click run via Matlab? Basically, I'm looking to automate the tedious entry of values in the Java app. (Average Matlab skills, zero Java skills; would also consider Python or R instead of Matlab if that is better.) Thanks for any help

Yes, you can use Java Robot Class.
... But getting the positioning right is a pain, because there is only positioning by coordinates, not by field.
