Apps and Bar Code Scanners

Does anybody know whether it is possible to direct the output from a bar-code scanner to enter data to an App Designer Edit Field ??? With spreadsheets (such as MS-Excel) it is possible to do this using a software "wedge"

I should clarify: I would like the scanner data to go directly into a field that is somehow "tagged" to accept data from the scanner, only. A related question in this forum refers to a bar code scanner that emulates a keyboard, in which case the data would get delivered to whatever edit field is active ('in focus') at that particular time.
