How to extract the statistical feature of fish ?

Hi, I am trying to extract the statistical feature of fish, for example the length of fins, length from eye to fin etc. Is there any particular method for finding the statistical features? or we have to detect each part like eye and fin? please help.

OK, good luck. You'll probably want to take the images where the fish are perpendicular to the optic axis, if you have a choice.
