Hi, I am trying to build a random forest on my data using the following two different methods:
  • mdl = TreeBagger(NumTrees, myData, ResponseVarName)
  • mdl = fitensemble(myData, ResponseVarName, 'Bag', NumTrees, 'Tree', 'Type', 'regression')
I am using the same number of trees for both methods, the same training dataset, and I believe both are bagging algorithms.
How exactly are these two different? Is there any difference?
Thank you for your help in advance!

Hello JWP,
Did you find out what the difference was? I did read the doc info in MATLAB, but I didn't find the answer.
Does anyone actually know?
Many thanks.

This link has the answer (see under section "Comparison of TreeBagger and Bagged Ensembles") https://www.mathworks.com/help/stats/ensemble-algorithms.html#bsxabwd
