Shortcut in folder to start program

There is the possibility to create shortcuts in the Start menu and the toolbar, but is it also possible to create a shortcut in the folder of the program itself?

Please explain the relation to Matlab. Which operating system are you talking of and what exactly is "the program itself"?

Assuming you mean Windows, the Start menu and toolbar (and Desktop) are already folders, and yes, you can create a shortcut pretty much anywhere by right-clicking and selecting "New Shortcut"
