MATLAB pop up messages not showing on montior

I am using MATLAB R2017a 64 bit on an Ubuntu 16.04 LTS with two monitors (Iiyama North America 27", and a Dell U2715H) both running on 2560x1440 resolution. Weirdly the pop up messages in the editor show like below on the Dell monitor, but not on the Iiyama monitor.
Any ideas why this happens?
