Generate a clone of an open Simulink model (to create an autosave copy)

One of the drawbacks of Simulink is that it still doesn't have an option of autosave.
Unless you update or build your model (then, an autosave copy is made), you are not protected against disasters (and Matlab crashes!).
I'd like to generate a periodic function that saves the model. I managed to create a callback that acts like ctrl+s, but I prefer to keep the open model unsaved, and instead to generate a clone of that model, just as autosave works on every computer environment.
Any idea?
