Replacing multiple string values

I have a splitted DNA sequence and their counts that is

    GUUA    2 (here GUUA is repeated twice)    
    UUAG    2     
    UAGC    2

Then I want to replace these strings with other non terminals, that is GUUA by A and UUAG by B, UAGC by C and so on. How is this possible.
