Is it possible to write a programme which would output RGB values with a certain audio frequency input?

For a School project I am trying to write a project which would turn sounds into colours. The idea is that you input a certain sound, from which you extract the most prominent wavelength (greatest amplitude) by use of fourier transform and that the output would then be a certain colour related to this specific wavelength.

Now with this being said, I'm fairly new to matlab and I actually just wanted to ask if you guys think that this would be a feasible idea or not for a beginner.

The Matlab aspect of it doesn't sound like a huge challenge if you have the maths and the idea sorted out. If you don't have the maths sorted out then whether or not you can do it in Matlab doesn't really matter yet.

ANYTHING is possible. Start thinking about how to solve it. That is your task. Once you decide what the words mean in terms of mathematics, then you can start thinking about what the MATLAb implementation would be. When you have an actual question about MATLAB, then ask it.
