How to interrupt a Java library created in Matlab in a standalone Java program?

Dear all, we developed a Java GUI which uses a java library created with Matlab (with Matlab builder JA toolbox) for calculations. It works fine, we can initiate a calculation and get back the results for display. But how can we interrupt a calculation? Say I have a 'Cancel' button in the Java GUI, with which I want to interrupt, how can I do that? Of course I could just ignore the returned result if the button is pressed but I would prefer to have the process killed in a neat way to avoid using calculation power. Thanks! Greetings, Martin
