Will a Windows PC compiled executable run on a Linux PC?

I'm running Matlab R2015a on a Windows PC. Will an executable compiled on this Windows PC also run on a Linux PC (same/similar PC hardware, but Linux OS rather than Windows OS), or do I need to install Matlab on a Linux PC and compile there?

No, it will not execute, not unless you run it under a Windows emulator such as Vine.
