Auto tuning PID algorithm in Simulink

Hi all,

I want to ask what type of method that Simulink used to tune the PID parameters in the PID block or in other words the specific algorithm/equation to tune the P,I, and D parameters? Can we consider the generated PID values are optimum values for the system?
