Missing Statistics Toolbox

Hello,

I have licenses for several toolboxes, but when I open MATLAB, one of them, the statistics toolbox, does not appear. I do not find it in the help menu and cannot access any of its functions.

I am running 2012b on a Mac with OSX. I have tried uninstalling, downloading, and reinstalling MATLAB in its entirety. I have also tried re-downloading and installing the statistics toolbox itself. When I do the latter, the computer insists that the toolbox is already installed and forces me to overwrite it.

Finally, I get the following message when I start MATLAB, which I suspect may be related to the problem.

I had this problem, too, on a Mac OS X computer. I tracked it to the pathdef.m file in the ~/Documents/MATLAB folder. Remove that file and restart MATLAB. There are also hidden settings files in the ~/.matlab folder, which I deleted, but removing those alone was not sufficient.

My tech support people actually solved this a month or so ago, but you got it right. If you run into the problem again, here is their full answer; it seems there's another way of doing it than pathdef; that was the way I ended up using.

"Anyway, it appears that toolbox installation involves unpacking the

distribution in the toolboxes directory and adding the toolbox to your

path. You said you could see the .../toolbox/stats directory? I think

you should be able to use the toolbox if you use the addpath command to

add toolbox/stats/stats and toolbox/stat/statsdemos to your path. You

can use savepath to remember it.

Or it seems you could edit toolbox/local/pathdef.m where the paths to

all the toolboxes are stored."

From the result of |ver|, you do not have Statistics Toolbox installed. I would just contact customer support and see if they can sort things out. HTH.

As you can see, the rehashes don't seem to help. I am wondering if my uninstall was not complete; so far I have only tried deactivating and dragging the application to the trash folder, but I suspect there is some kind of preferences folder somewhere that is not being deleted.

I'll appreciate any further suggestions you have!

can anyone help me with that ... and here is one more thing when i was adding to path C:\Program Files\MATLAB\MATLAB Production Server\R2015a\toolbox

there was no stats folder in my toolbox there ...

can anyone helpme with that and can i download that externally ??

Me too. The stats and machine learning toolbox on a machine disappeared a few months ago (haven't used it for months). This is a work machine that we clearly ordered and have the stats toolbox since 2015.

It's R2015b, not production server, and I have "Previously accessible file "C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2015b\toolbox\shared\statslib\cell2dataset.m" is now inaccessible.

I also confirmed that the \toolbox\stats and \toolbox\shared\statslib are simultaneously gone too. Looks like it was specifically targeted for removal.

Even more weird, I opened the uninstaller, the stats & machine learning toolbox is checked, so it had been installed as expected. So somehow only the stats toolbox folders got removed magically?

Thanks nauti for posting the issue. At least I'm not questioning my sanity for this.
